Clinical Supervision & Consultation
Thoughtful, supportive guidance led by Mervin Ellis, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (Florida License MT4603). License status: Clear/Active. Qualified Supervisor for Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy interns. Supervision supports case conceptualization, documentation, ethical practice, and steady progress toward independent practice. Requirements can change; applicants should confirm current rules with the Florida Board before beginning hours.
01 — Licensure Supervision
Florida supervised experience generally includes at least 1,500 hours of face-to-face psychotherapy over at least 100 weeks, with at least 100 hours of supervision and at least 1 hour of supervision every 2 weeks. Supervision must use raw clinical data, such as records, direct observation, or recordings, as permitted by law and consent requirements.
02 — Case Consultation
Individual supervision is generally one supervisor with no more than 2 interns; group supervision is generally 3–6 interns. Group supervision requirements may include alternating individual supervision, and electronic supervision is subject to Florida limits, including an initial in-person meeting and limits on remote hours. Confirm the current rule before relying on any format.
03 — Professional Growth
Hours should begin only after intern registration and qualified-supervisor approval when required. Supervisors should meet Florida Board requirements, including applicable clinical experience and approved supervision training. Maintain detailed supervision and clinical-hour records, and use the current Florida verification forms and deadlines.
